Educating children has been a concern of parents and governments for decades.

Despite large amounts of investment and reforms, educational standards still remain a cause for concern for many parents, particularly as competition for good schools becomes fiercer.

At Start Nursery, we understand that all children have the potential to make valuable contributions to later life provided they are given the right attention and support needed from the very start (birth to 5 years old).

Research has shown that children who are supported by parents and given a good preschool education in the Early Years, fair much better in later life than children who do not receive the same start.

Unfortunately, getting the right attention and support is not always as easy as parents would hope. With some preschools being little more than babysitting services and many schools and nurseries struggling to cater for the diversities that exist in education, straining under large class sizes, it is clear that we need to look elsewhere for a solution.

At Start Nursery we believe the answer lies with one group of people in particular, who can provide children with the exact skills and confidence they need to get the head start in life they deserve.

These people are ideal because they:

  1. Care more about individual children than any other group.

  2. Have fewer children to cater for than schools and childcare providers.

  3. They can and want to make significant differences to individual children’s futures.

Who are they?

Parents!

At Start Nursery we believe that given the right information, guidance, support, tools and resources, parents themselves can provide their own children with the support they need during these crucial years better than anyone else from the comfort of their own homes.

Parents are naturally their childrens first teachers, but without knowledge and guidance, they struggle to provide their infants with more than rudimentary attention. Many parents want to be able to do more for their children, have more control and ensure that their children get the best start in life but find acquiring the information they need; time consuming, laborious and tedious.

At Start Nursery we champion the parents that want to do more for their children and have developed a special Parents' Area to provide parents with:

  1. Information about the Child Development they need (not simply links to many sites)

  2. Start Nursery's exclusive Tools to assess and monitor their children's abilities.

  3. Resources to work with their children and develop their skills

  4. Preschool Activities that parents can do with their under 2's to develop their children's physical, sensory and social development.

  5. Preschool Activities that parents can do with their over 2's to develop, reading, writing, creativity, maths and science skills in order to prepare them for nursery and school.

  6. Tools to organise and plan their time with their children, so that they can make the most of this time and also develop stronger bonds.

All the information on the site is based on researched methods and practices and produced by a qualified teacher trained in child development.

The resources are also linked to the Early Years Curriculum, so that parents can be rest assured of the quality they are receiving.

The Start Nursery Parents’ Area is a structured and organised area of exclusive tools and resources unique to Start Nursery, which parents can use systematically. Every effort has been made to ensure the ease of use of the area for parents so that they can focus on their child’s development and progress, without wasting time searching for this information.

For example by using our Assessment Analyser, parents are able to assess and produce reports on their child’s development.

Our Online Kid’s Activity Organiser, helps parents organise daily activities and upload photos, as well as log developments in the diary entry to keep track of their child’s progress.

Our Themed Area contains an ever-growing library of Language, Maths, Science, Craft, Social and Physical Activities that parents can take part in easily with their children to develop their skills.

Supporting Work-Life Balance

Many parents (particularly professionals), are choosing to have children later on in life for financial reasons, but this means companies tend to lose their most skilled workers when they decide to have a family.

While some companies attempt to overcome this problem by introducing flexible working hours to retain high calibre staff and also provide childcare facilities at work, others are starting to understand that parents themselves want to make greater contributions to their infants' futures. Hence employers need to show their support of the family unit and provide incentives to make this easier.

This is where Start Nursery comes in.

As a leader in preschool home learning, Start Nursery understands the need to support working parents from maternity to nursery. It provides parents with easy access to information and resources, saving time and energy which is in limited supply; reducing the overwhelming information and simplifying it to the basics of what parents really need. Start Nursery works with Employers, Childcarers and Parents to provide a holistic approach to infant learning, ensuring that we all work together in the education of future generations.
